Hi Families!
We are in our final week of school, can you believe it?? I am so sad that we are not able to be together this week but I will be sending out invitations to our virtual class party! Our party will be on Thursday, 5/21 at 10:30! It will be summer/tropical themed so think what you wore for Hawaiian Day and come dressed for our theme if you'd like. We will be sharing our favorite moments from the year, chatting with each other about summer plans, and doing a virtual awards ceremony!!! Afterwards, the awards presentation will be emailed out so that you can have paper copies of certificates! Once I have dates/times for school items pickup, I will let you know right away. Mrs. Willis Today is the start of week 6! Just a few more weeks are left in the school year and I thank you all for the wonderful patience you have had with these unforeseen circumstances as we learn at home. This week's Zoom call on Wednesday will be a chance for students to share with each other their posters for their chosen biography person. They could have printed and filled out the pdf I emailed or created their own rendition with a sheet of paper. If your student was not able to complete a poster, that is okay too! They are welcome to join in the call and learn about the people their classmates chose!
Our weekly video of Stuart Little will be up on Tuesday too! As always, if you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out! Week 6 starting May 4, 2020 Monday
Hi Families!
We are on Week 5 of our distance learning and I hope you all are doing well and are hanging in there! This Wednesday, on our 10:30 Zoom Call, we will be working on a Spalding story together. It is a short paragraph that I will include below and will be reading aloud to the students. We will then be discussing some elements of the story together via the chat box. Spalding Story #28 The Gila monster gets the first part of its name from a river in Arizona. When I asked my dad about the second part of the name, he said, "Well Ava, I guess it comes from its looks." I have never seen one though my family often camps in the desert. That's because Gilas are underground most of the time. Pictures show a large head, bowed legs, and a short tail. The body is scaly and black with pink, yellow, or orange markings. They aren't pretty, but they do fine in the desert. They can go months without eating by storing fat in their tails. It is one of the few poisonous lizards in the world. I don't think I want to see one. Together, we will be talking about text structure and point of view, characters, and main ideas and details of the story. 🙂 Below is our breakdown for this week's lessons: Week 5 starting April 27, 2020 Monday
Stuart Little chapters 7 and 8 will be up on the website on Tuesday! I don't know about you guys but I am excited to try some no bake, homemade play dough! We even have some neon colors here to try out!
